Dr. Ivan Xavier Torres Cordova
Career
Born in Ecuador and studied a BA in mechanical engineering at his home country. Obained a MSc. and PhD degree in the United Kingdom in the field of biomedical engineering focused in fabrication of Bio-Sensors. His gained knowledge, apart from mechanics, includes:
- MEMS (Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems)
- Functionalization techniques for cell culture procedures
- Microscopy (SEM, confocal and fluorescence)
Academic career:
- 2003–2010: BA Mechanical Engineering,ESPOL Ecuador.
- 2014-2015: MSc Biomedical Engineering, Newcastle University, United Kingdom.
- Thesis: Machinability of bone substitute materials
- 2015-2020: PhD Biosensors, Newcastle University, United Kingdome.
- Thesis: Fabrication of a MEMS device for cell migration study
- 2020-2023: Lecturer of statics, welding procedures and occupational safety at UIDE, Ecuador.
- 2023-now: Post Doc position at TU Clausthal, Germany.
- Project: RESAS (Real time high Sensitive food Allergen Sensor)
- Funded by: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
